Having a clean shower is a satisfying feeling, but it doesn't take long for the shower screen to start looking grubby. One of the biggest problems is often the screen building up with limescale.
If you want to know how to tackle limescale on the shower screen, look no further! We consulted the experts at the GHI and put together this handy guide.
Quick mix limescale blitz
You may think you need to buy a trolley full of chemical cleaners to get rid of limescale, but there's a cheaper and more eco-friendly way! Distilled white vinegar is brilliant for putting the sparkle back, but make sure you use white vinegar – the brown malt stuff you stick on your chips can do the job, but will make your bathroom smell like the local chippie!
You can either buy a pre-made vinegar solution or just as easily make your own. Get an old spray bottle and mix up a solution with half water, half vinegar and spray on to your shower screen.
Depending on how bad the problem is, you may need to use the rougher side of a non-scratch scouring pad with a dollop of elbow grease, before wiping it off and buffing it up with a dry cloth.
Why bicarb is a miracle worker
Get out the bicarb. This is a natural abrasive, so get a damp cloth, and rub a small amount of powder on to the screen. Then wipe it off with a damp cloth and buff it up with a dry one.

Which ready-made product is best at removing limescale?
There are plenty of potions on the supermarket shelves promising to tackle limescale, but these often contain chemicals, so open the windows wide and put on pair of rubber gloves before you use them.
Cif Power & Shine Bathroom Spray can be sprayed on and wiped off within seconds. However, unless you've got minimal limescale, you'll probably need to 'rub' rather than 'wipe'.
Another great product is Viakal Limescale remover, but GHI cleaning experts suggest rubbing hard after using it.
Prevention is better than cure!
Get into the habit of using a squeegee to wipe the screen after every shower. Lakeland does a wide range, and the Oxo Good Grips Wiper Blade is a good one. Want more power? Try a daily squirt of Mr Muscle Shower Shine after every shower before you wipe down the screen.
GHI Tip: If you haven't got a squeegee, just use a microfibre cloth to dry off the screen after you've showered.
